Is Belize a safe country?
There is crime in Belize, but this is mainly restricted to Belize City and other urban areas. Most of the criminal activity rarely affects expatriates and the general feeling is that Belize is a safe and friendly place. Crime has been a concern in Belize in the past and the Government understanding the importance of security to attracting foreign investment, has established a special tourism police in areas most frequented by tourists. As is the case anywhere, visitors should exercise caution and good judgment when visiting.
