It is possible for non-residents to obtain financing from local banks in Belize for the purchase of real estate. The financing offerings vary among providers. A typical offering from Caye International Bank on Ambergris Caye is set out below:
Caye International Bank has a loan to value ratio of 50:50 and offers a 10 year term. (For example, if the value of a property is US $100,000 the loan would be up to 50% (US $50,000) over a period of 10 years.) The collateral used is the project that is being financed. Interest rates vary. To secure financing through Caye International Bank a borrower will need to establish an account at the bank. The minimum amount required to open a personal account is US $500. This account is used to facilitate the borrower's loan payment with the Bank.
